FullStop Security, are there Risks?

Updated: Aug 11, 2019

What are the largest security risks to your company’s product/service?

FullStop’s stop sign has few security risks. This is mostly because the infrared camera does not record any personal information. However, there is a potential risk for data tampering especially if the data is to be used in legal cases regarding traffic incidents recorded by FullStop. If a criminal was interested in acquiring the data, there would be two potential points of entry.

Hardware

FullStop has two ways of collecting data from the system. The first is through a hard link-up directly into the box on the back of the stop sign using a USB interface. However, the box will only be accessible under lock and key. The lock is embedded in the box so a criminal would have to be able to pick the lock in order to get any information out.

Software

Another way a criminal could access the data is through intercepting the wireless data whether through hacking or some sort of virus. FullStop has software embedded in the hardware in each stop sign, and FullStop software is required on the client’s computer as well. This allows for communication between the two technologies. There is potential for a hacker to gain access to the data through this connection. However, the FullStop software has a full security suite for repelling just an attack, and if the client computer has an up to date antiviral, a criminal would be hard pressed to steal any data.

“...even if a criminal got passed the plethora of other security features, they would still need to decrypt the data.”

While both of these security risks are possible, FullStop goes above and beyond for the client’s data security. The FullStop software also encrypts the data that it collects. This means that even if a criminal got passed the plethora of other security features, they would then need to decrypt the data. Ensuring that only the client has the decryption key allows the client to have the peace of mind that their data is safe.
